One of the most significant and largest public buildings of turn of the century Yerevan is this seminary designed and constructed by architect/engineer team V. Mirzoyan and N. Kitkin. As a modern college in European style, the building included not only numerous classrooms and administrative sections, but also an auditorium and library. Originally it had a central corpus with two adjoining wings in two floors. During 1930s a third floor was added and some of the architectonic features were removed as a result. The building had since Soviet times served as an educational facility, becoming the first site of Armenia’s State University and remains one of its faculties to this day. It is unquestionably one of the best preserved and most significant examples of early 20th century architecture in Yerevan.
