One of the first industrial buildings in Soviet Armenia, the Derjinski Mechanical Factory was designed by Alexander Tamanyan, but was completed at a later date with some changes by the ingeneer architect. Throughout its history, the building was altered and changed and it is not known how much of the original building remains to this day. The site of the factory has been converted into the market ‘Petak’, opposite Komitas Park. The fate of the original factory buildings is unknown as of now.
